Section E — Questions 39–40, 5 marks each (with internal choice)

[5]39. Two resistors of 4 Ω and 12 Ω are connected to a 24 V battery (a) in series, (b) in parallel. Find the equivalent resistance and the current drawn from the battery in each case. Also find the total power in the parallel case.

Find the resistance of, and the current through, a 100 W bulb operated at 220 V. If it glows for 5 hours daily, find the energy consumed in 30 days (in kWh) and the bill at ₹ 6 per unit.[Ch.11]
