This campaign aims to eliminate open defecation, improve waste management and create awareness about hygiene.

Every citizen must participate in keeping their surroundings clean. We should not throw garbage on roads and use dustbins properly. Proper waste disposal and segregation of dry and wet waste is essential. We should also reduce the use of plastic and adopt eco-friendly practices.

Question 17 – Long Answer (Poetry) – Any One

(i) What characteristics of the Bengal Tiger are described by the poet? (How to Tell Wild Animals)

Answer: In the poem "How to Tell Wild Animals," the poet Carolyn Wells humorously describes the characteristics of a Bengal Tiger:

Habitat: The Bengal Tiger is found in the jungles of the eastern regions, particularly in Bengal (India).

Appearance: The tiger has a beautiful yellow coat with black stripes. This noble wild beast has a tawny (yellowish-brown) skin.

Behavior: The poet humorously says that if a large animal with black stripes attacks you while you're roaming in the jungle, it's definitely a Bengal Tiger. If the tiger 'eats you,' that confirms its identity.

The poet uses humor to describe how one would recognize a tiger – essentially by being attacked by it. This satirical approach makes the identification method unforgettable yet dangerous!

(ii) Why does Amanda seem moody most of the time? (Amanda!)

Answer: Amanda seems moody most of the time because she is constantly being nagged and instructed by her parents (especially her mother). Throughout the poem, Amanda is told to sit straight, clean her room, finish homework, not eat chocolate, and not bite her nails.

This constant criticism and instruction makes Amanda withdraw into her own world of imagination. She daydreams of being a mermaid drifting freely in the sea, an orphan roaming the streets with freedom, or Rapunzel living peacefully in a tower.

Amanda's moodiness is actually a defense mechanism against the continuous restrictions on her freedom. She escapes into fantasy because reality offers her no space for self-expression. Her silence and dreamy nature are misunderstood as sulking, but she is actually seeking the freedom that every child desires.
